Kim Paul-Williams, the ASPSF Program Manager, speaks highly of Jennifer’s remarkable contributions: “Jennifer helps with everything. She has been a consistent presence at events such as the United Way golf tournament and Ride the Ozarks Rally year after year. Additionally, she is actively involved in assisting with applications, reviews, interviews, fundraising efforts, and much more.”
In recognition of her invaluable service, ASPSF has proudly named Jennifer the Volunteer of the Month for April 2023.
Jennifer, a devoted volunteer for the past six years, is not only committed to the cause but is also a former scholarship recipient herself. Notably, Jennifer purchased her first home at the age of 40 and has aspirations to return to school to pursue her bachelor’s degree.
Jennifer shares words of encouragement for students considering a return to education: “Anyone can do it. I remind students that it will all be worth it for them and their families.”
She further expresses her fondness for her fellow volunteers and Kim, emphasizing the strength of their collective teamwork: “I love working with Kim and all of our volunteers. We have a great team!”
ASPSF extends its heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer for her dedicated service and for supporting single-parent families on their journey towards a brighter future.

Scholarship Grants: Exploring Your Educational Opportunities
When it comes to financing your college education, scholarship grants can be a lifeline. These grants are designed to support students in various ways, and there are several types to consider. In this article, we will explore the three primary categories of scholarship grants: Athletic Scholarship Grants, Academic Scholarship Grants, and Departmental Awards.
1. Athletic Scholarship Grants:
Athletic scholarship grants are awarded to students who excel in sports. Unlike academic scholarships, these grants do not require high GPA scores. Instead, your proficiency and achievements in your chosen sport can catch the attention of scouts and lead to a scholarship opportunity.
2. Academic Scholarship Grants:
Academic scholarship grants are given to students based on their academic achievements. These grants typically require a high GPA and may be awarded to students who have received academic honors. It’s essential to maintain your academic performance to keep these scholarships, as they often require students to meet specific GPA criteria.
3. Departmental Awards:
Departmental awards are granted to students who demonstrate outstanding performance in a particular department or field of study. These awards are intended to encourage students to continue their studies in that department. If you excel in a specific area of study, you may be eligible for a departmental award.
It’s crucial to understand the criteria and requirements for each type of scholarship grant. Academic scholarship grants and departmental awards often come with specific GPA or academic performance standards, while athletic scholarship grants focus on your sports achievements.
Remember that a college education can significantly impact your future. Scholarships are valuable resources that can help you achieve your educational goals and reduce the financial burden of tuition and expenses. Whether you excel academically, athletically, or in a specific department, there may be a scholarship grant tailored to your strengths and aspirations. Pursuing these opportunities can make your dreams of higher education a reality.
